Port Royal Barony Course - Reviews

While the holes are relatively open off the tee, Barony's greatest challenge is presented around its small greens, which are heavily protected by deep bunkers, lagoons and Bermuda rough. This is a course where accuracy, not length, is paramount, and a deft touch is required with medium and short irons. The back nine offers a fine mix of long holes (the 428-yard, par four 12th plays directly into the ocean breeze) and short holes (the 480-yard, par five 15th can be easily reached with two solid shots). All in all, this is a very enjoyable course for all skill levels

As you look from the tee, many of the holes of the Barony Course appear to be relatively open, but as you near the green the real challenge of the course becomes clearly evident. Smallish greens protected by deep bunkers and Bermuda rough require accurate shots with short and medium irons.

Playing to just 6,038 yards from the regular tees, Barony is a very enjoyable course for all skill levels. The back nine in particular is a fine mix of long and short holes. From the tee, many of the holes on Barony appear to be relatively open. But as you approach the green the real challenge of the course becomes clear. The greens are small and protected by deep bunkers and Bermuda rough, demanding an excellent touch with the medium and short irons. This is a course where accuracy, not length is the key factor.
